Station Activities
1. Geography of the Danish Resistance in the Context of WW II: See handout.
2. Timeline (Jewish Holocaust and Danish Resistance): Create a timeline that includes five significant topics relating to the Jewish holocaust. Describe each event. See your handout for details.
3. Oral History: A Conspiracy of Decency: the Rescue of the Jews During World War II by Emmy Werner contains many personal accounts by individuals who helped with the rescue of the Jews in Denmark in 1943. Read pages 60-65 in the chapter titled "Escape Across the Oresund," select one person's account and write a journal entry from the point of view of someone else mentioned in the original story. Be sure to give the name of the person whose account you are basing your work on. Click here to connect to the oral histories.

Read Fighting for Freedom: an Oral History of the Danish Resistance, which contains an interview with Kristin Maller who was 15 when the Germans invaded Denmark. In this interview, Ms. Maller (KM) describes how she helped Danish Jews escape to Sweden in 1943. Read specific pages as follows: Page 20-22 and 24 from "What part did you play..." to page 27 at the top. Pretend you are a BBC reporter who is interviewing Ms. Maller and write a report that details her experience.
4. Five Essential Questions: Read the articles and view the video listed below. Then create and complete a Five Essential Questions sheet (who, what, why, when, where) on the topic of the Danish Resistance.
