Starting your research
  1. Open a Noodle Tools project for this assignment.  Use MLA style and Junior setting.  Keep track of your sources as you go.
  2. Find a variety of good-quality academic sources for your research; at least one book, one reference source and one website.

A variety of books have been set aside for you on the reserve cart. Check the library catalogue for other titles.

General Reference Encyclopedias

In Britannica, type in the name of your monarch. Select reading level 1, 2, or 3 depending on how much information you need. Check out some of the links to other websites that Britannica has selected.
Cite this source as a reference source that you got from a database.  Click on the check mark for a pre-made citation.
 
In World Book, start with student or advanced level and enter the name of your monarch.
Cite this source as a reference source that you got from a database.  Scroll to the bottom of the article for the author’s name and a premade citation, or click on the My Research settings button and select citation.
 
 
Databases
The best database for this project is Biography in Context.  Access it via the library’s database webpage. http://www.sd45slc.ca/databases.html
Type your monarch’s name into the database and it will return with a variety of sources of information on that person including reference sources, magazines, and academic journals.  Start with the biographies section.  You will find biographies on your monarch from a variety of sources.
Cite these sources as reference sources that you got from a database.
 
 
Websites
Be sure to assess the quality and credibility of websites that you find online. 
Consider who wrote it and what their credentials are. 
Consider limiting your searches to certain domains. (.edu, .gov.uk  .org etc)

You will find information about each of the monarchs including primary source documents like speeches they made.
